Our partners work with us to define the causes of child injury and to help create better ways to prevent them.

These include UNICEF Regional and Country Offices, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand , the Hanoi School of Public Health in Vietnam , the Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program, the Centre for Injury Prevention & Research in Bangladesh , the Royal Life Saving Society of Australia, and several universities..

TASC also works in collaboration with other major health institutions such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC), and the World Health Organization, (WHO).

 

  UNICEF Country and Regional Offices :
 
     
 

The agency in the UN system dedicated to the welfare of children, UNICEF is tackling child injury in Asia in several country programs including Bangladesh , Cambodia , China , The Philippines, Indonesia , Thailand , and Vietnam .

The East Asia & Pacific Regional Office, EAPRO, is coordinating the technical input to the country offices. TASC provides both regional and direct assistance to EAPRO countries.
     
  Centre for Injury Prevention Research, Bangladesh :  
 
     
 

A new NGO founded in 2005, staff at CIPRB bring years of experience to the injury issue.

CIPRB & TASC are working together to design effective ways of reducing child injury in Bangladesh and in other developing countries.

TASC looks forward to CIPRB becoming a leading research institution in Bangladesh and contributing directly to reducing child injury in developing countries.

The Center for Injury Policy & Prevention Research at HSPH excels at turning public health data into public health policy.

A new project with TASC is moving research into interventions designed to make injury prevention policy a reality in central Vietnam .

TASC continues to support the professional development of CIPPR staff working in injury prevention.
 
     
 

China Field Epidemiology Training Program ( FETP), China CDC, Ministry of Health, China:

 
 
     
 

The China FETP has started describing the magnitude of the child injury problem in the most populous country in the world.

The Beijing Injury Survey was conducted in 2003 and sampled over 28,000 households representing over 81,000 respondents. It documented injury as the major killer and disabler of children in this mega city.

In 2006, a provincial survey is being completed which will create a more complete picture of the child injury situation for China .

TASC is assisting in moving injury research to the national level and in the design of interventions to begin making a difference.
 
     
  Chulalongkorn University :  
 
     
 

The Institute of Health Research at Chulalongkorn University is the leader in community based injury research in Thailand . The Thai National Injury Study will be released in 2006 and will document the extent of child injury for Thailand .

Following the Asian Tsunami in December 2004, the Institute has begun working with TASC on a Safe School demonstration project in Phang Nga province.

TASC is also working with Chula to support the development of more Thai expertise in injury prevention research.

  The World Health Organization :  
 
     
 

The World Health Organization is the United Nations specialized agency for health.

TASC participates in WHO advisory groups and select committees on child injury prevention, both at the Geneva head quarters level and at regional offices in Asia and the Middle East.
   

 

 
  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention :  
 
     
 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The CDC is the lead disease prevention institution within the United States .

CDC provides technical assistance to TASC's injury prevention programs, and TASC leadership serves on CDC advisory committees.
   

 

 
  Swinburne University of Technology :  
 
     
 

TASC and Swinburne have formed a partnership to establish a Collaborating Centre for Injury Prevention and Research in Melbourne Australia .

This effort will greatly enhance both organizations' capacity in undertaking meaningful operational research on injury prevention in developing countries by building on each others technical capacity.

Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) is a leading injury prevention and control research institute in Australia .

A new agreement between MUARC and TASC recognizes our shared commitment to preventing child injury and will foster collaborative work in TASC project countries.
   

 

 
  The Royal Life Saving Society of Australia :  
 
     
 

The Royal Life Saving Society of Australia is one of Australia 's premier water safety organizations.

Royal Life is providing technical expertise and experience to the water safety programs in TASC's project countries, starting with Bangladesh .

Given the size of the child drowning issue in Asia , we see this partnership expanding over the next few years as TASC initiates more water safety interventions in our projects.

The mission of the George Institute for International Health is to help reduce the global burden of non-communicable diseases and injuries through health research, policy development and capacity building.

TASC's relationship with the George Institute creates opportunities for young public health professionals to contribute to injury control programs in developing countries while gaining professional experience in injury prevention.
